I want a baby brother

Jack: (picking up my birth control pack) What’s this?

me: Birth control pills.

Jack: Huh??

me: Pills I take so that I don’t have a baby.

Jack: You’re having another baby?!

me: No. That’s what the pills are for.

Jack: I can’t have the baby brother I want?

me: If I stop taking these pills then there is a chance of that happening. But not right now.

Jack: (blank stare, then walks away) As usual, I only understood half of this conversation.
